Training Benefits

In a recent article published by the Journal of Revenue and Pricing Management for the AGIFORS Conference, the results of a survey from airlines that use revenue management software systems, stated that RM system vendor training had few satisfied customers. The mean score out of 5 was 3.31, and the mode was 2 (unsatisfied). But we have to understand that system vendors are primarily system development people with less commercial background. They can teach us how their system works, but we also need training on how to apply the tools in a commercial environment, and how to set-up the system in a way to best manage in a dynamic world. That's RM Training Group's specialty.

Staying competitive is the key to sustainability. Training your staff, keeping them motivated and up-to-date with industry trends and new technologies is essential to achieving that goal.

So where do you start? To develop an effective training program, follow these steps:

  • Orient new employees and outline expectations

  • Train your staff members according to their job descriptions and requirements

  • Find out what employees don’t know, and train to fill those gaps.

Follow with building skills and expertise that exceed the job description.

Online training in particular, does have several advantages compared to traditional classroom training. One is that it can be done anytime, anywhere.

It can often be difficult for people to take a week or a day to go to a training class, but if they can follow a computer-based training at convenient times, that serves everyone well.

A second advantage is that online training costs less, because you don't have to pay for employees' travel. For some companies, it offers opportunities that simply wouldn't be available otherwise. With the internet, they can do it at home, at the office, or while traveling.

Online training can also be customized to individual students in a way that classroom instruction can't. At the same time it offers a consistent delivery, message and content that large organizations especially will appreciate.
